At the estate, we offer wine tastings and cooking classes so that you can always take a bit of Tuscany home with you. Additional local activities include the possibility to rent a Vespa, e-bike or go horseback riding to further explore the beauty of the area.
Walks
The amazing landscapes and the contact with nature, lead guests to rediscover the pleasure of physical activities in the open air. In the areas surrounding Terre di Nano it´s possible to go for walks and to hike in plains and hill paths, to get away from sedentary city life and to enjoy the contact with nature.
Cooking class
Although today it´s become a need, as well as an hobby or a job, cooking was not born as a pleasure and nowadays it has lost much of its history and tradition. Terre di Nano and its qualified chefs offer its guests the opportunity to rediscover original and traditional flavours and cooking techniques. Going back to the past guests will be able to cook simple and tasty dishes enyoying the pleasure of creation and taste with a further look at the trends of modern cooking. Bocce
“Bocce”, the italian equivalent of lawn bowling, has got very ancient origins and who´s from Terre di Nano, cannot disregard it! The game has an important story: it was known by the Egyptians and the Ancient Romans, then Garibaldi reformulated its modern version and later on Italian immigrants exported it to America. “Bocce” is a modern game, but it´s still linked to tradition. It requires strategy, but is also perfect for relaxing and spending time with friends, enjoying the open air and admiring the landscapes offered by Terre di Nano!
Vespa and bike ridings
The territory of Pienza is ample and full of surprises. For this reason Terre di Nano suggests you and gives you chance to visit it riding a Vespa or a bike as an alternative to a simple walk. An exciting solution for those who want to move faster and for two-wheels lovers who don´t want to lose the beauty of the landscapes and the chance to breathe the air of the Val d´Orcia.
Monticchiello
The first document relating to the free Municipality of Monticchiello bears the date 1243. That moment marks the start of the most flourishing and glorious period in the history of this fortified village: the construction works of the Cassero, the walls and the Church are completed; crafts and trade are developed; agriculture is improved; the population increases and the Municipality issues statutes in the vernacular language: the people take an active role in political life by making their voices heard through the so-called Council of “one (member) per family”. Today, this charming medieval village is a refined tourist destination, known first of all for the ancient Teatro Povero, cultural pride of the entire Val d'Orcia and still a strong icon of the intellectual attitude of the town and the ability of its people to "go out in the streets" to reaffirm their values as they did in the glorious past, addressing current social and political issues.
Montepulciano
erched on the top of a hill south of Tuscany, and not far from Siena, is a medieval town of rare beauty that certainly deserves to be visited ! A unique town with elegant Renaissance palaces, ancient churches, splendid squares and small hidden corners. Moreover, in Montepulciano you can enjoy a fabulous and boundless panorama over the entire Val d'Orcia and the Val di Chiana. The strategic location of Montepulciano makes it the ideal place to set out to discover this beautiful area of Tuscany. Piazza Grande is the heart of Montepulciano and the stage for all main events of the city, including Il Bravío delle Botti, a competition held every year in August, as an ancient tradition of local folklore and customs. A walk through the streets of Montepulciano is the best way to discover the city and its attractions and also admire the incredible view of the surrounding hills, covered vines that produce the exquisite Vino Nobile di Montepulciano!
Pienza
Is a small village in southern Tuscany, in the famous Val d'Orcia, absolutely worth visiting. It sits a top of a hill, clearly visible from Terre di Nano and located about 12 km from there. Pienza overlooks the entire Orcia valley offering breathtaking views all around. This charming village is widely known as the "ideal" city of the Renaissance, the creation of the great humanist Enea Silvio Piccolomini, who later became Pope Pius II. Piccolomini had the economic capability and the political influence to be able to transform his humble native village, Corsignano, into what he believed to be a utopian and perfect town, which would embody the principles and philosophy of the classical age and the great Italian Renaissance.
Bagno Vignoni
Is a very small village, built around its most famous attraction: the natural thermal springs. Its beauty lies its charm of yesteryear, and we recommend that you add it to your itinerary and stop to learn about ancient thermal baths, and admire the magnificent views surrounding it, including the Rocca di Tentennano in Castiglione d'Orcia. Bagno Vignoni is truly unique: nowhere else in Italy will you find a natural stone swimming pool (49-meters long and 29-meters wide), built in the village central square, with hot thermal water: this Renaissance-era square was built exactly above the original spring of thermal water, the same used by the ancient Romans.
